Seeking candidate! s who have a sincere desire to work with children and are available to work as needed up to 40 hours per week between the hours of 6:15 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Located in the new Kosair Charities Center on Masonic Homes’ 82-acre Louisville campus, Sproutlings offers care for more than 100 children in a specially-designed 13,000 sq. ft. day care with classrooms, lounge and play areas for each age group. The hours of operation are Monday thru Friday, 6:30 am - 6:30 pm. Unique features include:

  • Inclusive programming that encourages interaction among all children
  • 6,000 sq. ft. enclosed, outdoor play area and fully accessible “tactile trail”
  • Playground equipment designed for children with special needs
  • Snoezelen room to promote sensory awareness
Sproutlings is a referral-based Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care Center for up to 55 medically fragile children. Sproutlings will also serve up to 70 typical children, a! ges 6 weeks thru 5 years. Specialized services will include:
  • Pediatric nursing care
  • Nutritional care to meet individual dietary needs
  • Occupational, physical and speech therapies
The teaching assistant is responsible for providing a safe and developmentally appropriate daycare program for the children of Sproutlings with current knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and procedures. They must ensure the development and safety of these children in accordance with relevant federal and state legislation and policies. The employee will be respectful of children and parents, and ensure that equipment and facilities are clean, safe and well maintenance. Failure to provide adequate services may place children at risk.

Educations, Qualifications and Skills include:
High school diploma or equivalent at a minimum. Age 18 or older.

Relevant experience preferred

Knowledge of and proper application of relevant legislation and policies related to child care and! safety of children

Analytical and problem solving skills

Demonstrates effective multi-tasking, time management, and stress management skills

Knowledge of child development theories and practices

Strong oral and written communication skills

Can work independently with little direct supervision and with a team

Accepts responsibility and is self-motivated

Demonstrates strong work ethic to achieve Sproutlings and organization goals

Major Job Responsibilities:
Implement a program for young children which includes safe and appropriate activities for and follows relevant legislation, policies and procedures to ensure that children are supervised and safe at all times

Plan and implement activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of the children in the program

Provide nutritious snacks and lunches as defined by federal, state, local, and facility guide! lines

Provide adequate equipment and activities

Ensur! e equipment and the facility are clean, well maintained and safe at all times

Provide weekly and monthly schedules of activities

Develop culturally appropriate programs and activities

Follow all policies and procedures including acceptable disciplinary policies

Be familiar with emergency procedures

Supervise children in the day care

Actively teach and engage children within the classroom and center

Ensure children are supervised at all times

Provide various experiences and activities for children including songs, games and storytelling

Provide opportunities for sleep and rest time

Build children's self esteem

Establish routines and provide positive guidance

Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable

Implement positive discipline when required

Clearly and effectively communicate in a manner that children understand

! Maintain program administration

Keep parents informed of program expectations, program activities and their child's progress

Develop and maintain current, accurate and confidential client files

Develop daily activity plans

Perform other related duties as detailed by supervisor or designee
