Location: Louisville Kentucky

The Baptist Health Information Management Department performs inpatient coding for the seven acute care Baptist Health hospitals in Kentucky. Inpatient Coders work r! emotely and may live anywhere in the state of Kentucky. Employee benefits are provided.

¿ Performs coding and abstracting processes according to the standardized policies determined by the Baptist Health management team.
¿ Responsible for all inpatient coding functions, ensuring that System goals and objectives are met.
¿ Collaborates with facility CDI specialists and CDI coordinator to facilitate modifications to clinical documentation through interaction with physicians, nursing staff, other disciplinary team members and CDI staff to ensure that complete and accurate documentation is obtained to allow for compliant coding and measuring and reporting outcomes.
¿ Becomes proficient with ICD-10 and provides assistance for computer system implementations.
¿ Participates in Quality Improvement activities within CDI, HIM and the hospital.

Qualifications

• Requires a 2 year degree in HIT OR 3 years HIM experience in lieu of ! a degree.
• Must be proficient in e-mail, Word, Excel, ! data entry and data retrieval systems, Encoder and internet.
• Must be eligible for one of the following:

o Coding Associate (CCA)
o Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
o Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
o Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
o Certified Professional Coder Hospital (CPC-H)
o Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
