Description: University of Kentucky is in need of Nurse Clinical/UKHC/Trauma Progressive Care Unit T100 right now, this vacancy will be placed in Kentucky. Registered Nurses in Tower 100 Progressive Care of the Trauma Acute Care Surgical Center at UK Chandler Hospital provide care primarily f! or adult patients with trauma or acute care surgical conditions. Patient conditions include injuries resulting from blunt and penetrating trauma, solid organ transplant, and vascular and non-elective orthopaedic surgeries. The Trauma Acute Care Surgical Center is comprised of three units: ICU, Progressive Care, and Acute Care. The average length of stay for most patients is 5 days.

The Trauma Acute Care Surgical Center consists of two towers with ICU, progressive, acute, and telemetry rooms in each tower. All rooms are private and allow two visitors in each room until 9pm and one overnight visitor. A social worker and service coordinator are on-site to provide referrals and consultations for patients and their family members.

The primary responsibilities for this position consist of providing total, continuous, and patient centered care in a collaborative work environment. The environment supports collaborative efforts among the nursing staff and the- team! of physicians to increase communication and enhance expected ! patient outcomes. This includes utilization of the nursing process in conjunction with a comprehensive patient-centered plan of care, ensuring patient satisfaction, delegating duties to unlicensed personnel, and adhering to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local regulations.

In addition, the essential functions for this position include the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds occasionally and 25-50 pounds frequently; as well as stand, walk and sit for long periods of time. The conditions of work may invo! lve exposure to communicable diseases, hazards of radiation, and injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

The ideal candidate will be assertive, inquisitive, passionate, flexible and enjoy serving as an advocate for the patient and their family members. It is also necessary to communicate in a professional and respectful manner and educate family members through teaching and demonstration as well as help family members navigate health care resources, which is essential to delivering collaborative care to our patients. Knowledge of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs and Gordon's Functional Patterns, along with Roy's Adaptation model is a must in clinical practice at UK Healthcare. In addition, must have strong technical skills, the ability to quickly assimilate new skills into practice and a proven ability to work in a team as well as independently. Candidate will also need strong organizational, prioritization, and del! egation skills along with basic computer navigation skills and working ! knowledge of the internet.

Preferred Education / Experience

Prefer a Bachelor's degree in nursing and at least one year of RN experience.
