Provides leadership through a matrix structure to all i! nfection prevention/control practitioners throughout the system.
Provides up-to-date subject matter expertise, assistance and guidance to the discipline of infection prevention and control throughout the system.
Is responsible for the coordination and consistency of the infection prevention and control programs throughout the system.
The job necessitates planning, developing, directing, implementing and evaluating infection prevention and control activities.
The program scope includes, but not limited to all essential activities related to the development and integration of approved infection prevention and control practices into the hospital and related entities, as assigned.
This is driven by the use of epidemiological principles and methods for identification and prevention of transmission of infectious disease(s) to the patient and healthcare worker(s).
Responsibilities may include data collection and analysis, all s! urveillance, policy and procedure development, employee and ph! ysician education, compliance with standard and regulations and reporting as required to local, state, federal and other regulatory agencies.
Facilitates and coordinates with Safety and Employee Health.
Will provide day-to-day infection prevention and control services to one or more facilities, specifically related to construction projects, outbreaks and other infection prevention/control activities.

Louisville Market, Lexington Market, Central and Eastern Saint Joseph Facilities
Duties and Responsibilities
Ensuring the evaluation the effectiveness of its infection prevention and control plan annually and whenever risks significantly.
Ensuring implementation of the infection prevention and control planâs activities.
Ensuring that findings from the evaluation are communicated at least annually to the individuals or interdisciplinary group that manages t! he patient safety program.
Ensures that evaluation findings from the infection prevention and control plan are used by the facility when revising the plan.
Ensuring the conduction of regular rounds in hospital departments for discussing, monitoring and following the practices of infection prevention and control with team members, families and physicians
Ensuring the collection of data on infections from hospital departments and maintaining records for every case.
Ensure conduction of continuous surveillance for detecting the infection source for the purpose of prevention.
Ensure the timely follow-up and investigation of all incidents of hospital infections, the timely generation of reports and timely reporting to the appropriate individuals, groups and committees.
Serving as a resource related to appropriate type, use and availability of supplies and other requirements for isolation.
Implementing training and ed! ucational programs for the provision of skills and knowledge regarding ! infection preventive measures and control and prevention practices to ensure a safe environment or surroundings to patients, visitors and team members.
Monitoring the execution of preventive measures and providing guidance to leaders, physicians and team members.
Participating in unit meetings, in-service education programs, and quality improvement initiatives as assigned.
Participating in infection control team meetings and assisting in their organization.
Reporting infection outbreaks to the correct entities in a timely and complete manner.
Representing the organization/hospital related to projects on the local, state and national level.
Preparing monthly statistical information for presentations to all required groups and committees, to include the Infection Prevention and Control Committee.
Reporting any interference for the implementation of infection control practices.
Participating in related tas! k forces, committees and other groups, as needed.
Serves as the organizationâs nurse expert in infection control and prevention.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications/Experience:
Degree in Nursing or other related field.
Bachelorâs preferred.
Current License, if required
7-10 years in infection control/prevention or closely related field.
A minimum of 5 years management experience.
APIC certification strongly preferred.
Skills:
The ability to develop a feeling of team and facilitate team work around the infection prevention/control matrix.
Highly energetic individual to develop teaching materials and training programs.
Able to plan and obtain objectives to ensure the development of service.
Knowledge of techniques for data collection.
Able to conduct training seminars and exercises.
Knowledge of nursing practice and theory. !
Knowledge of infection control practice and theory
Ex! cellent analysis and statistical collation skills.
Able to prioritize many and varied needs that change frequently.
Able to organize his/her work and ensure the organization of subordinates work
Able to work independently, but also as a team (infection control/prevention and as part of the Quality team).
Able to lead staff and influence them.
Able to work alone and as a part of a team.
Good written, interpersonal, time management and presentation skills.
Flexibility to meet a wide range of service needs.
High sense of organization and the ability to meet deadlines every time.
