Location: Louisville Kentucky

Description: University of Louisville Health Care is currently seeking to employ Clinical Risk Manager right now, this job will be placed in Kentucky. The Clinical Risk Manager is responsible for developing, strengthening and implementing clinical risk management and patient safety programs that enhance safety, reduce risks! and prevent losses for University Hospital under the direction of the Director of Risk Management. The Clinical Risk Manager will collect and analyze data as part of implementing new processes. In addition, this individual will be knowledgeable about current standards of nursing care and with drafting policies and procedures. The employee shall present a pleasant and helpful manner to patients, physicians, and other members of the hospital staff and the general public. The employee shall comply with all departmental and hospital policies. The employee shall also support and contribute to departmental objectives.

Assist Directors of Risk Management and Clinical Quality and Patient Safety with the development and implementation of strategies to mitigate clinical risks and patient safety issues.

Actively participates in the scope and activities of the Patient Safety Committee,

Assist Director of Risk Management with assessing relevant data from mult! iple sources to ensure coordination, tracking and trending of ! organization-wide patient safety and risk management processes and outcomes.

Assist Director of Risk Management with investigation of sentinel events as well as participation in the root cause analysis process.

Responsible for medical records review, chart summaries and timeline development.

Assists with development, presenting and evaluation of educational programs relating to clinical risk management and patient safety issues to employees and physicians, including hospital orientation.
Recommend and facilitate change within the organization to improve patient safety based upon identified risks.

Develops and collaborates with other departments policies and procedures effecting organizational safety

Serve as a resource for clinical departments on issues safety.

Support and encourage error reporting throughout the organization through a ”Just Culture.”
Takes call on a rotating basis with the Director of Risk M! anagement

Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & TRAINING:
Associate’s Degree in Nursing or related Healthcare field from an accredited college or university required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 5 years of clinical experience preferably in an academic medical center, critical care experience preferred. Prior risk management experience preferred. Excellent communication, presentation and computer skills required.

LICENSE & CERTIFICATION:
Ky Nursing or related Healthcare License, required. Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) preferred.
