Position Summary:
A Model Laboratory School Nurse provides basic health services to students, assists in the planning and implementation of school health programs, evaluates health status of students, provides instruction in health practices and first aid, serves as a resource pertaining to student health management strategies and welfare and attendance problems and concerns. Performs care requiring substantial specialized knowledge, judgment and nursing skills based upon the principles of psychological, biological, physical and social sciences in the application of the nursing process.

Minimum Licensure/Certification Qualifications:
Must hold a valid Kentucky RN license or become RN licensed in Kentucky no later than 3 months from date of hire.
Minimum Educational Qualifications:
Associate's degree in Nursing
Minimum Experience Qualifications:
Two years of nursing experience is required.
Qualification Equivalencies:
No equivalencies
Desired Qualifications
One year of Med/ Surgical RN experience is preferred. BSN is preferred
Knowledge of:
- Social service & health service agencies in the local area
- Social, emotional & behavioral characteristics of student clients
- Health services program evaluation & research techniques, strategies, & procedures
- Appropriate curriculum & instructional programs pertaining to student health education
- Applicable health appraisal methods, techniques & procedures
- Principles, methods, techniques, strategies, & trends in educational health services
