The major job responsibilities of this position include Clinical Research activities, records management, staff development, quality assurance, and meeting enroll! ment goals for studies. This person: Possesses comprehensive theoretical knowledge combined with clinical experience in the care of research patients and families. Nursing practice is independent, innovative, flexible and self-directed. Collaborates with other members of the health care team, as well as other regional health care organizations and hospitals, to challenge and coordinate institutional resources to maximize advocacy for the research patient and their family in achieving the most effective outcomes. Demonstrates leadership ability when assuming responsibility for a research protocol. Applies knowledge of study design and federal regulations to evaluate the research protocol.Evaluate staffing needs based upon current research activity and implement changes in staffing assignments. Assist with the development plan for resource allocation/management and implement plan including budgetary considerations, contract negotiations, personnel needs and physical requireme! nts of the protocol. Analyzes research team's performance in r! elation to study data time-lines, query completion and sponsor satisfaction. Assumes responsibility for patient protocol compliance and retention on study protocol. Assumes responsibility for identification and recruitment of research patients.
Gives rationale for action/inaction based on scientific principles, practice, experience and internal/external regulations. Evaluate and implement change based upon study team compliance with required study procedures and standards. Continually assesses Standard Operating Procedures for unit. Advanced knowledge of computer software specific to department. Demonstrates flexibility by performing additional responsibilities and functions.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Works independently; experience in clinical research, planning, organization, attention to detail, analysis.
Preferred Education / Experience
Nursing license; SOCRA Clinical Research professional certification and completion an! d maintenance of certification in a KCCRIS recognized research certification program.
