Overview

The Certified Medical Assistants will be introduced into our current multidisciplinary team clinical team at the Commission for Children with Special Health Care Needs. The CMAs will work with the current clinical and augmentative team to enhance the overall efficiencies of clinical, procedural and administrative duties. Our current team is comprised of: Registered Nurses, Support Staff Supervisor, Support Staff, Social Workers, Dietician, Transition Administrator, Family to Family Representatives, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Audiologists, and Speech Language Pathologists.

Job Skills/Requirements

The CMA accredited curriculum will allow for the following key components to be addressed in our clinical setting:
Basic principles of psychology
Medical law and ethics (including HIPAA and OSHA)
Recognizing and responding to ! verbal and non-verbal communication
Providing instruction ! for health maintenance and disease prevention
Performing in person and telephone screening
Obtaining and recording patient history

Many of the above components are critical pieces of the patient encounter in both the Commission clinic and non-clinic setting. With CMA staff performing and assisting with patient and physician encounters, co-managing cases with nurses and assisting with ad! ministrative duties on non-clinic days, nursing staff will be able to assist patients with nursing care and case management components, including establishing a nursing diagnosis and implementing a patient plan of care.
