Position Title: Nurse Practitioner
Department: Child Neurology
Location: Kosair Childrenâs Foundation Building
Full/Part Time: Full-Time

JOB SUMMARY
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will collaborate with physicians and other health professionals to coordinate the delivery of nursing care to children and adolescents who are being evaluated for neurological conditions. The scope of the practice includes education, consultation, and communication with referring providers! , program coordinators, and research. The NP will see follow-u! p patients in a busy child neurology practice. NP will also be responsible for follow up with patients, making phone calls, approving medication refills, ordering tests, and other duties as assigned.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
NP will see provide comprehensive nursing care to children and adolescents with neurological problems in clinical Child Neurology office and at Kosair Childrenâs Hospital.
- NP will coordinate education needs of patients and families.
- Communicate with referring providers through electronic means (E H R) about neurologic care rendered and/or management plan.
- Maintain Commitment to professional growth and competency as a Child Neurology NP.
- Serve as a resource for nursing staff and other members of the health care team.
- Participate in research activities in areas related to clinical specialty.
- Maintain current with all required compliance training programs.
- NP will be an active part of! all conferences and presentations.
- Office and Hospital Service: NP will see patient 4 full days and 1 half day per work week, and will take call every Thursday night.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Post graduate education or training in a recognized field of specialization.
- Masterâs degree in Pediatric or family practice/NP exact education required.
- Masterâs Degree in Nursing
- RN and PN license, current in the state of Kentucky.

Very fast pace environment, must be able and comfortable with multi-tasking and time management skills, as well as being flexible with job assignments to help cover areas when other nps or physicians are out of the office. Occasional typically sitting at a desk or table. Occasional typically standing or walking. Occasional typically carrying E.H.R. device ranging from 5-10 pounds. Occasionally requires repeated reachi! ng by extending hands or arms in any direction. Occasionally required h! andling by seizing, holding, grasping, or turning hands. Frequently requires good hearing. Frequently requires good near and/or distant vision. While highly unlikely, possible exposure to blood borne pathogens. (Office maintains OSHA requirements.) While highly unlikely, possible exposure to respiratory conditions. (Office maintains OSHA requirements.) NP spends 75% or more of their time in the office or hospital (indoors). Daily Noise and vibration (children crying, televisions in patient rooms, phone etc., outside traffic including emergency vehicle sirens and aircrafts due to proximity to downtown traffic, hospitals, and airport.)
