JOB SUMMARY

The nurse practitioner or advanced practice nurse is responsible for, under the supervision of a physician, the diagnosis and treatment of acute, chronic, and long-term healthcare issues with the goal of improving the patient̢۪s wellness. This position works in an independent and interdependent relationship with team members of Chiro One Wellness Centers, which allow for consultation and collaboration

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Provide age-appropriate patient care. Obtain medical history and perform physical assessments appropriate to the patient's presenting complaint and age.
  • Analyze, interpret, and evaluate subjective and objecti! ve findings to develop an assessment in order to initiate a treatment plan or referral to appropriate physician or provider.
  • Develop a plan of care based upon assessment, which includes prescribing appropriate diagnostics, medications and treatments, administration of injectable or physical therapies.
  • Provides follow-up care to evaluate the effectiveness of a care plan.
  • Prescribe medications and durable medical equipment based on established treatment plan and within the scope of state licensure.
  • Identify, evaluate, and address disease prevention and health promotion issues while administering quality patient care. Promote healthy living through education and primary prevention.
  • Educate patients and/or families about preventive care, medical issues, and use of prescribed medical treatments, medications, and anticipated outcomes.
  • Maintain legible, accurate, and confidential medical records. Document all medical evaluation! s, diagnoses, procedures, treatment, outcomes, education, referrals, an! d consultations consistent with state regulatory standards.
  • Obtain appropriate continuing medical education and maintain licensure, national certification, and competencies required. Analyze new knowledge gained from conferences, workshops, professional literature, or "hands-on training" and assimilate into clinical practice.
  • Take leadership responsibility for completion of tasks when indicated; participate in performance improvement; demonstrate effective and professional communication skills.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Masters of Science degree in nursing, with a minimum of 24 months of specialized classroom and experiential learning as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • One year training and/or experience in patient care.
  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Illinois, Kentucky or Texas.
  • Board certification by the American Nurse Credentialing Center or equivalent.
  • APN licensure in the stat! e of Illinois, Kentucky or Texas.
  • CPR Certification
  • Professional knowledge of medical/nursing theory and practice.
  • Extensive knowledge of physical assessment, differential diagnosis, pathophysiology and pharmacology.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Ability to prioritize work and handle multiple tasks concurrently.
