Registered Nurses in the Clinical Decision Unit at UK Chandler Hospital provide care patients ranging from adult to geriatrics. Patient conditions include all levels of critically ill, progressive car! e, telemetry and acute care needs.
The Clinical Decision Unit assists with decompressing overcrowded areas within the Emergency Department, Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and diagnostic/interventional radiology as well as evaluating patients from outside facilities for appropriate level of care placement and direct admits from clinic, office, or home. As a part of this unit, the RN serves as an important component of the multi-disciplinary team. This team is responsible for caring for and treating a variety of critically ill patients. Nurses are cross-trained to provide care and rotate between the areas.
The primary responsibilities for this position consist of providing total, continuous, and patient centered care in a collaborative work environment. The environment supports collaborative efforts among the nursing staff and the team of physicians to increase communication and enhance expected patient outcomes. This includes utilization of the nursing pr! ocess in conjunction with a comprehensive patient-centered pla! n of care, ensuring patient satisfaction, delegating duties to unlicensed personnel, and adhering to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local regulations.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and have a strong desire to serve in the nursing profession. Must also be confident ! and enjoy working in a fast paced environment. Knowledge of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs and Gordon's Functional Patterns, along with Roy's Adaptation model is a must in clinical practice at UK Healthcare. Candidate will also need strong organizational, time management and prioritization skills along with basic computer navigation skills and working knowledge of the internet.
Preferred Education / Experience
Prefer a Bachelor's degree in nursing and at least two years of RN experience within an intensive or progressive care unit. New graduates will also be considered.
