Bullitt County Public Schools is seeking highly qualified applicants for the following positions: Job Title: MSD Instructional Health Assistant Certificat! ion: High school diploma or equivalent; Annual Bloodborne pathogen trainingExperience: One year experience in working with children in an organized setting--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Basic Function: Responsible for providing health care needs of students during the school day in accordance with state laws and district regulations. Provides related instructional assistance as required. Duties: 1. Tutors individuals or small groups of students possibly with a disability or handicap, reinforcing and implementing instruction as directed by the teacher; maintains records of student progress.2.
Assist students by providing proper examples, emotional support, friendly attitude and general guidance.3. Assure the health and safety of students by following health and safety practices and regulations.4. Perform health related services for students after receiving approp! riate training (i.e. tube feedings, tracheostomy care, medicat! ion administration, catherization, etc.)5.
May be asked to receive valid First Aid and CPR certification by an authorized agency. 6. Assists in administering diagnostic and other tests; scores and records test information; reads, understands and assists in implementing, recording and monitoring student's IEP.7. Lift and transfer students out of wheelchairs, mat tables, etc.8.
Help with feeding, toileting, and positioning of students.9. Provides support to the teacher by setting up work areas, displays and exhibits, operating audio-visual equipment, operating educational training equipment and distributing and collecting paper and supplies.10. Participate as member of an instructional team, including remediation teams.11. Develops appropriate relationships with parents and team members; serves as resource person to the student's personnel evaluation teams12.
Transport students to and from activities and assist in preparation for treatment as requir! ed.13. Confers, as needed, with teachers concerning programs and materials to meet student needs.14. Assist in overseeing student while in special areas and other activities; providing supplies and treatment.15. Assist students in such physical tasks as putting on and taking off outer wear, moving from room to room, using lavatory and maintaining hygiene.16.
Directs group activities of students as assigned; assists in monitoring lunchroom and playground activities as assigned; assists in emergency drills, assemblies, play periods and field trips.17. Participate in meetings and in-service training programs as assigned.18. Refer additional health concerns to health coordinator. 19.
Assist teachers with designated instructional activities as assigned by Principal/Assistant Principal.20. Punctual and regular in attendance.21. Performs related duties as assigned. Knowledge of: - Basic subjects taught in the district schools; including arithmetic, grammar, spell! ing, language and reading.
- Basic First Aid and CPR te! chniques (current card holder) - Health and safety regulations - Interpersonal skill using tact, patience and courtesy. - Safe practices in classroom and playground activities. - General knowledge of school system rules and procedures for classroom, halls, cafeteria, library and transportation. Ability to: - Learn and apply appropriate care and procedures related to ill or injured students.
- Ability to guide, direct, and provide for student. - Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions. - Ability to exercise excellent judgment and maintain confidentiality. - Ability to work cooperatively with others - Ability to meet schedules and time lines.
- Ability to plan and organize work. - Ability to work confidentially with discretion. - Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. - Ability to read, explain and follow rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Ability to complete work with many interruptions. - Abil! ity to maintain medical equipment in proper working condition. Physical Conditions and Nature of Work Contacts: - Duties are typically performed in a school clinic and other school settings such as classrooms, gym, cafeteria and recreational areas. - Frequent movement throughout the school facilities is required.
- Occasional lifting of objects and students may be necessary. - Occasional exposure to potentially infectious diseases and bloodborne pathogens is necessary.- Occasional movement of students by wheelchair and other mechanical devices may be necessary.- Occasional travel with students on field trips may be necessary. - Daily close and personal contact with student may be necessary. - Regular contact with school teachers, counselors, psychologists and nurses and other specialists is necessary.
- Regular contact with parents requiring skill in diplomacy, tact and confidentiality is necessary. - Occasional attendance to before or after school meetings ma! y be necessary.
