Duties:
Major Responsibilities/Duties
Contributes to strategic planning and related activities to achieve the goals and objectives of Academic Affairs, the Chancellor, and KCTCS by participating as a team member on academic affairs issues related to healthcare and personal services; serving as liaison with regulatory agencies for KCTCS programs e.g. Cosmetology, Kentucky Board of Nursing, Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services, etc. and providing leadership and service on national, state, and local boards and/or committees. Assists in the development of policies as needed related to healthcare programs. Participates in professional organizations, such a! s, KNA, ANA, AACC, ACTE, KACTE, NN2, etc. and provides input i! n strategic goals as well as program planning.
Stays abreast of accrediting and regulatory agency requirements/changes and assists colleges and curriculum committees in updating programs accordingly. Stays well-informed related to health initiatives that impact the nursing, allied health, and personal service programs. Serves as team member on committees related to transfer, dual credit, articulation, assessment and placement, etc. that impact the health related programs. Assists colleges and provides leadership to curriculum committees in the preparation, submission, and approval of healthcare and personal services curriculum/courses. Assists with meeting notes for committee meetings. Posts materials for the curriculum committees.
Initiates, reviews, and renews/updates system memoranda of agreements with clinical/healthcare facilities annually. (If new agreements, legal services must review prior to Chancellorâs signature.) Forward college memoranda of ! agreements to legal for review as requested. Notifies colleges annually of KCTCS Policy 4.10.2 Procedure for Clinical Agreements requirement and maintains annual list of clinical MOAs according to KCTCS Policy.
Distributes the limited professional liability insurance policy to college health programs annually. Provides information to Insurance Coordinator, Office of Facilities Management, as requested.
Contributes to student retention and success by coordinating and providing leadership for KY HOSA â" Future Health Professionals as postsecondary liaison and advisor. Serves on the Executive Council for KY HOSA â" Future Health Professionals. Plans and assists with HOSA Fall and Spring Leadership Conferences as well as National Leadership Conference Activities.
Supervises and oversees the implementation of the statewide Medicaid Nurse Aide and Kentucky Medication Aide curricula and performance evaluation as well as monitors training/evaluation sit! es annually. Acts as liaison with the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and F! amily Services, Department for Medicaid Services.
Promotes excellence in teaching and learning by attending conferences to keep current in profession. Obtains continuing education units for re-licensure. Maintains a current unencumbered license and privilege to practice as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements
Masterâs degree (in Nursing or related field of study) plus five (5) years position-related experience; or equivalent. Must maintain a current unencumbered license and privilege to practice as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Preferred Competencies
Doctorate degree (in related field of study)
6 to 10 years position-related experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Team Player
Proficient Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
