RN - Float Pool/Critical Care

Location: Louisville Kentucky

Description: University of Louisville Health Care is at present looking to employ RN - Float Pool/Critical Care right now, this job will be placed in Kentucky. A registered nurse in this institution will deliver nursing care to patients of varying age groups by utilizing the nursing process and nursing practice standards. The registered nurse will maintain competency and application of the scientific knowledge necessary to meet patient needs. The registered nurse demonstrates through organizational skills, the ability to provide ease in flow of work. The registered nurse is knowledgeable and supportive of the hospital, department and nursing unit philosophies.

The float pool position is designed to provide additional coverage where needed in any of the hospital’s intensive care or progressive care units. This position will require the flexibility to float even during one shift to address issues of patient flow.

1. Conducts care assessments and interprets assessment data to determine care needs and constraints in meeting these needs.

2. Competently plans and manages care collaboratively with multiple disciplines to achieve therapeutic outcomes based on established standards of care.

3. Implements plan of care based upon established standards of care/practice, policies, and procedures, incorporating cultural, religious, psychosocial, physical, and age-related issues.

4. Maintains accurate documentation of observations, treatments, teaching, medications, care given, patient response, and integrates into plan of care.

5. Possesses knowledge of medications, and administers safely and accurately.

6. Appropriately delegates routine technical functions to non-licensed and licensed personnel.

7. Evaluates patient outcomes and revises plan of care appropriately.

8. Negotiates with other health care team members to come to an acceptable resolution of conflicts resulting from patient care or organizational issues.

9. Demonstrates an appreciation of the hospital mission as a teaching institution by providing themselves as a resource for employees, students, and residents.

10. Provides teaching to patients/families/significant others.

11. Performs other duties assigned by authorized personnel or as required to meet the needs of the facility, and internal and external customers.

Additional Requirements EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION & TRAINING:
Graduation from an accredited/approved school of nursing.

EXPERIENCE:
Two years Intensive Care experience required. Preferred working knowledge of online documentation. Must be knowledgeable of current nursing practices.

LICENSE & CERTIFICATION:
Current license in Kentucky. CPR and ACLS required.
