The Non-Invasive Vascular tech is trained in vascular physiology and non-invasive techniques, is responsible for performing non-invasive test procedures on patients to evaluate for peripheral vascular disease, functions as a member of the hospital team. Demonstrates clinical proficiency in the care of patients relative to their vascular testing, medical diagnoses, nursing interventions, required vascular assessments, age specific requirements. The employee uses the technical process, CQI process, and hospital and community resources to plan direct patient care, demonstrates clinical competency in all modalities of vascular testing. The employee uses department and hospital wide policies procedures during the provision of patient care, is accountable for improving job knowledge and skills.

Required

The technical staf! f must have an appropriate level of training,

technical certification or documented experience as follows:
Formal Ultrasound training: Successful completion of an
ultrasound, vascular technology or cardiovascular technology
program that includes verified didactic and supervised clinical
experience in vascular testing.
Post secondary education plus experience: 12 months full time (at
least 35 hours/week) clinical vascular testing experience plus one

of the following:
1) Completion of a formal two-year program or equivalent in
another allied health profession
2) Completion of a bachelor’s degree unrelated to vascular technology

Mandatory Credential: An appropriate credential in vascular testing.
Appropriate credentials include: Registered Vascular Technologist
(RVT); Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS);and/or Registered
Technologist Vascular Sonography [RT(V! S).Certified Registered Vascular Tech. . Current CPR certification requ! ired.
Graduate of Vascular program: May be hired if registry part 1 of test completed and 2nd part completed within 30 days

Experience only without formal training: A minimum of 12 months of vascular testing
experience with the performance of at least 600 noninvasive
vascular examinations under the supervision and appropriately distributed among the testing areas performed within the laboratory.

Able to work independently and make appropriate judgments within
legal scope of practice regarding patient care. Must be tactful and
courteous and possess the ability to remain calm in stressful situations. Desired
