Job Description:
LOOKING FOR ENVIROMENTAL HEALTH AND SAFETY INTERNS (PAID) TO START FA! LL SEMESTER. MUST BE CURRENTLY ENROLLED IN COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY ! (IN GOOD STANDING) WITH DECLARED MAJOR IN THE EH&S FIELD. BACKGROUND AND DRUG TEST REQUIRED. IF YOU ARE NOT A LOCAL CANDIDATE, CURRENTLY ENROLLED IN COLLEGE WITH A DECLARED EH&S MAJOR YOU WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. YOU MUST ALSO BE A US CITIZEN.

To promote compliance and enhance, support, and continuously improve the environmental health and safety programs at ZF Steering Systems.

Essential Duties and responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Environmental health and safety training to include topics of hearing conservation, blood-borne pathogens, hazard communication, lockout, contractor control, recycling programs and other OSHA and EPA required classes Prepare environmental work instructions Perform safety audits to include new equipment, personal safety audits, etc Perform environmental audits Prepare corrective actions from audit findings, accident investigations and employee suggestions Support production and! indirect areas with waste management, engineering controls, and continuous improvement by reducing waste and improving re-use programs Develop environmental programs relative to ISO 14001 and track measurables Communicate on all levels regarding safety and environmental policies, procedures, requirements, etc Conduct accident investigations from work related injuries to include interviewing the injured employee and witnesses Facilitate safety team and ISO 14001 meetings Participate in sustainability projects Participate and prepare for internal ISO 14001 audits Review and update required written OSHA and EPA programs Enhance ergonomics program Work with the on-site occupational health nurse regarding injured employees Support HR Department

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

The person must currently be pursuing a Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from a four-year College or University in the field of Environmental Health and Safety or its equivalent. The student must have completed at least one year in the program.

Basic math skills required

Reasoning Ability:
Individual must have ability to make independent decisions that may be of a complex nature.

Computer Skills:
The individual must have basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Individual must possess the interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with coworkers.

Physical Demands/Work Environment: ! The ability to work in an office environment, which could include sitting or standing for the majority of the day.
