This incumbent’s responsibilities include analysis and understanding of the critical documents that are associated with clinical research, including: protocols, amendments, consent forms, contracts and budgets to ensure research billing compliance and sound financial management of clinical research.
Performs initial review of clinical trials submitted to NHORA, performs research billing compliance reviews consisting of reviewing all Medicare Coverage Analyses, billing grids, and clinical trial research budgets. This position will be responsible for coding study services and to applying all applicable local coverage decisions, national coverage decisions, and third party payer rules to assist in the clinical trials budgets. The Coverage Analyst will interface with various departments in the institution, physicians, clinical research nurses, coordinators and sponsors, when appropriate.
This incumbent will complete monthly audits on research patient’s activity in the billing system and clinical trial management system. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing is required; BSN or higher in Nursing is desired. Active current registered nurse license/work permit in the state of Kentucky is required. SOCRA attainment when qualifications are met to take the exam is required. Two years experience in research or reasearch compliance, general/legal regulatory compliance, privacy compliance, corporate compliance, billing and reimbursement/compliance, medical billing/coding, healthcare accounting, pharmacy technician, healthcare administration and/or general business as an analyst, auditor or fraud investigator. With desired degree, no experience needed. May substitute basic degree with additional years of related experience on a one to one basis.
